Brazil and Real Madrid playmaker Kaka is being linked with a move away from the Bernabeu, but according to Sky reports Los Blancos won’t sell him for less than £40million.
That asking price is ridiculous for a player who is 30 years of age.
Wasted
Since his move to Real in 2009 Kaka has struggled to reproduce the form which made him a world star at AC Milan in Serie A.
Injuries and lack of form have meant that he has struggled to cement his place in Los Blancos’ starting 11.
Last season he was a bit-part player as his club made La Liga history, although he did make 26 appearances. A lot of those appearances were from the substitutes bench, as he competed with German midfielder Mesut Ozil for the role of midfield playmaker.
Linked
The former-World Player of the Year has been linked with numerous moves this summer, including a move back to Milan, where he made his name. However, Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani claims that a move for the midfield playmaker would be out of the Rossoneri’s financial reach.
Kaka has also been linked with a move to ambitious Chinese club Guangzhou Evergrande. The Chinese club has distanced themselves from a move for the former-Brazilian international though. It seems that Kaka is now in limbo.
International
Kaka’s stock has fallen so badly in recent years that he is not even considered a regular for his national side anymore. After the 2010 World Cup Kaka was dropped from the Selecao squad, as Brazil boss Mano Menezes looked at younger players.
He did receive a recall for games in late 2011. However, with the emergence of the likes of Oscar, Lucas Moura and Paulo Henrique ‘Ganso’ Kaka is unlikely ever to regain his starting place in the Brazilian national side.
Quality
Kaka still has the quality, but he needs to be given regular first team football to find his best form. His football brain is probably as still as sharp as ever. It doesn’t matter that he is now 30, his game has never really relied on pace.
Should Real Madrid drop his asking price he would be a good signing for any team. Kaka has had interest from Premier League clubs in the past, but his price and wages have always put them off. Kaka would be a great addition to the Premier League, should any English teams decide to pursue their interest in him.
Competition
Real Madrid are chasing Tottenham’s Luka Modric, a player who can play in the same position as Kaka. This seems to spell the end for the former-AC Milan star at the Bernabeu. He is too old to be sitting on the bench and not getting regular first team football.
It would best for everybody if Kaka moved on this summer. Kaka’s career is ebbing away and he can’t afford to spend anymore time on the sidelines. He has to move on from the Spanish champions, before it’s too late.
Move
When Kaka was playing at AC Milan he was considered one of the biggest players in the world and lauded for his ability. Its just a shame that his move to Real hasn’t really worked out the way he would have liked.
His stop-start Real Madrid career has made him into a bit-part player, rather than the star that shone so brightly in Milan. I hope this summer yields a summer move for Kaka and he gets first team football next season, because a fresh start is exactly what he needs to kick-start his career.
Should Kaka leave Real Madrid this summer?
